I'm working with a multi-tenant mvc implementation by Zack Owen's...which uses Spark (https://github.com/zowens/Multi-tenancy-Sample). I'm trying to upgrade the codebase to use the latest of each of the dependencies, but am having issues when using
the compiled Spark v1.7. If I download Master and include the project I have no issues, but if I reference the compiled DLL it seems to be having issues finding paths that have been loaded into the view cache. Is the source in the Master branch
exactly what was compiled for this release?

Yep, it's still active. You can direct questions to the google group if you're curious what's going on.

is Spark still in development? no releases since March 2010 and no support for .NET 4.0 or VS2010 - what's the status of this project? hate to see it die.

Hi guys,

I have a asp.net mvc project which uses spark view engine.

The problem is i do not have the models and the controllers, therefore i do not have the full access to be able to do what ever i need to. All the models and controllers have been put into a .dll file (yes i tried using .net reflector but it throws me 5000
errors when i decompile the dll).

Having this issuse I decided to take the non-recommended route to continue with my work.

What I am trying to do now is, i want to write some server-side code on one of the .spark views. i have no idea where is goes. I know how to write javascript code and then call the function from a onClick event of a button but how do i do that same
with server-side code? reason being is, I need to get some information from the server and since i do not have the controllers and models for each view, I have no other choice but to write some server-side code on the .spark view.

I want to write some methods using server side code and then call it on the onClick event of a input type=button.

Can someone help me on where and how I need to put the server-side code?

for e.g to write some javascript, i do <script> //some functions </script>.. i want to do the same for some C# or VB.net code, how do i do that?

Thanks peeps

Kind Regards

Additional participation is being saught out. The dead codeplex resources are an illusion though - conversations happen on the spark-dev google group, and the source code is on github.

Any offers to help triage the Issue Tracker would be greatly appreciated. VS2010 will need to spin up soon as well.

A question was also raised about the possibility of moving source from git to mercurial.

I think there are still a lot more work to be done and it just seems like development of Spark is infrequent. I would be interested in contributing code to Spark and perhaps even helping with the Visual Studio 2010 integration project (right now trying to use my .NET Ninja Skills to code without Intellisense :)).

With the advent of HTML5 and modern browsers, there is no doubt in my mind that Web applications are going to become more robust and "desktop-like" and we need powerful view engines to make developing those applications quicker. I'm all about productivity when coding and Spark so far gives me that.

Maybe we can put Spark into an online source control ourselves? Instead of forking it...

New Post: How do we contribute?
There's no public source control repository, and the source packages are distributed with a non-functional git repo. The Issue Tracker appear to be write-only (suggestions go in and are silently ignored by the project owners). And this discussion forum is largely unused.

Spark was a promising project, but it appears to have died. If this is an open-source project, it needs to start behaving like one.

New Post: How do we contribute? Using the existing html vs editor colors is also on the roadmap.
